Note: portrait orientation is currently a beta feature - please contact us to report any issues.
CloudFit supports running on connected displays with the following orientations:
Apple iPads: landscape orientation only
Televisions (using supported hardware): landscape or portrait orientation
The main purpose of this feature is so that you can mount your TVs in your workout space either in portrait or landscape orientations -- whichever suits your space and workout style the best.
Review our tutorial video for additional information:
Setting Display Orientation
To change display orientation, navigate to Settings -> Manage Displays.
Here you will see a list of your connected displays. Click on the orientation button which should say "Landscape" or "Portrait" to change the TV orientation.
If you have your TVs mounted vertically, choose the matching portrait option (left or right). You should see the TVs change orientation immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions
How will various CloudFit modules display in landscape vs portrait mode?
Every module has been optimized to display in either landscape or portrait modes. Our system automatically adjusts the layout to show the same information in either mode. However, as the dimensions differ significantly between the orientations, the exact layout may vary to make the most of the screen.
Note: Flow module does not support "full screen" layout mode in portrait orientation. Regardless of your Flow module setting, it will always display using the "original" flow layout mode.
Can I mix and match orientations?
Yes you can, however, we don't recommend it if you use custom background images as they may not look great when mixing orientations. We expect to address this issue in the future. See the question below for additional detail.
How will background images show on landscape vs portrait displays?
Background images (either on the standby screen or on whiteboard modules) will be cropped to fit the screen size. This means, if you upload a landscape image and display it on a portrait display, the sides will be cropped to make it fill the screen (likewise the other way around).
How will exercise videos display on landscape vs portrait displays?
CloudFit currently only supports exercise videos in a wide aspect ratio (16:9). Both built-in exercise videos and custom exercise videos are stored and displayed in this aspect ratio. In both landscape and portrait orientations, the videos will still show in this wide aspect format. The exact layout of the exercise videos will vary in each orientation to be as optimized as possible.
If you find there is too much empty space on the screen, you can try using the "Video Grid Crop-In" in the Advanced Settings. This will make the video take up more space but with some of the video cropped.
